the day julia mounted killing beasts

we arrived in paris mid day but didnt let the rest of the day go to waste. after dropping off our giant bags at the hostel we set off on foot (as usual) to do some sight seeing. first was the arc de triomphe, then to the eiffel tower. we went to the top and the view was phenominal, not only that, we were just in time for sunset and that just added a whole new dimension of awe. the last sight of the day was the notre dame cathedral paris. we walked for 6 hours and along the way we came across two statues of a lion eating a boar and a rhino killing a lion, so julia mounted them.

the next morning the hostel provided us with a tradional french breakfast which consisted of croissants, bread and jam, oj and coffee. off to the train station we went for our day trip to reims. its claim to fame is a notre dame cathedral. it is also in the champaigne region of france so we decided to go on a tour of the pommery cellars. so awesome and we got to taste too. that was the hottest day so far (32) ouch.

day 3 was another day trip day but first we went down into the catacombs, twice as deep as the metro and bones and skulls for as far as the eye could see and farther. the train took us to chartres to see yet another marvelous and huge notre dame cathedral. that night we spoiled ourselves and had dinner out. nothing too fancy but better than a sandwich for the umteenth time. that night it also rained and did it ever.

our last day in paris was probably our mosy anticipated. the louvre. it was an all day affair, mona was impossible to get close to but still good to see none the less. night train that night so we were able to save $ by not having a hostel.
